This carraige style 2-car garage with mother-in-law suite above was a nice complement to the existing home. We tied the two buildings together with the large deck in front and wide staircase to the apartment. The roof was custom rafter framed, 2×6 walls, 12 foot garage ceiling, shake shingle siding, and brick front on the foundation.

Is It Time For A New Look?

Bathrooms are a pertinent part of any home. They have come to be sanctuaries from the outside world and stresses. They are inviting private rooms where you can go and relax with a calming bubble bath or soothing shower.People spend a lot of time in their bathrooms, more time than they probably even realize. Bathrooms are the first and last rooms used daily and many visitors in your home often seen and use the bathroom as well. You want your bathroom to be a welcoming part of your home that feature your individual style and sanctuary. If you feel that your bathroom has become bland and what once looked fresh and nice is a little run down then consider jazzing up your bathroom with some style.Contact a local professional bathroom remodeler, like Alcoa Construction of Delaware, for all of your options and help with extended remodeling ideas.
If your bathroom seems a little mundane consider making it into more of a luxurious refuge. Try adding some instant elegance. First you should let in the light. Provide bright window treatments that allow the sun ’s natural light to filter into the bathroom. Add a skylight or another window for even more additional light. Layer lighting by adding both recessed lighting and chandelier or pendant light fixtures. A brighter bathroom or a bathroom where you can dim or brighten depending on your mood is one of luxury and sophistication. Another tip is to splurge on nice faucets. There are a variety of selections out there for bathroom faucets. Choose one that is unique and fits your style. Remember to keep the bathroom neutral. This embodies a serene atmosphere that is pleasing to everyone. Know the time era you are focusing on. If you are going for s stylish elegant Victorian bathroom do your research and decorate with time pieces and antiques. Create a spot in your bathroom for sitting, This option makes the bathroom inviting and romantic, Warm towels, via a towel warmer, heavy accessories, and a signature scent are all other ways to bring unique luxurious style to your drab bathroom.
Another popular style trend popping up in bathroom is a boxy modern bathroom. To achieve this look don the walls, bath tub, shower, and floor with great squared matching tiles. This creates a modern uniform look throughout the bathroom giving it a clean feeling. Switch out your out dated curtains and window awnings for a glass block. This still allows for natural light to filter in but provides a more private, modern, boxy look. Accent the bathroom with more masculine accessories, and keep the accessories to a minimum. Use black accents to complete the modern look.
For a stylish bathroom with a softer feminine side think romantic. The use of fabric is a great way to achieve this style. Don’t just stop with curtains on the shower. Add a sink skirt for a soft feel. Adorn your windows with elegant ornate fabric drapes. Mix pastel floral fabrics for a garden feel. Accessorize with lots of flowers and gold framed pictures.
A simple instant way to add style to your bathroom is with color. Simply painting your bathroom a new color can take it from eh to wow! Update your boring bathroom with bright wall color. Consider adding colorful tile throughout the bathroom. For a less dramatic effect use colorful accent tiles here in there in the bathroom or only use them in the back splash and shower. Colorful towels and funky bright artwork are perfect accessories to complete your new fun colorful bathroom style.
For an upgraded stylish feel to your bathroom consider built in bath accessories. Install and attach towel racks and hooks throughout the bathroom. Instead of having the traditional soap dish sitting on the counter install it to the wall. Bring in separate funky bathroom pieces like the toilet paper holder or hand grip to really make your bathroom unique and stylish.

Did you know that the investment return on the average bathroom remodel is 80 to 90 percent?

Did you know that the investment return on the average bathroom remodel is 80 to 90 percent? With such a great return, not to mention material pricing at all-time lows and starting to rise, now is the perfect time for bathroom remodeling and turning your bathroom into the chamber of your dreams. Baths are made for luxury. After a hard day at work, you deserve your own personal spa to come home and relax. From steam showers to a shiny bidet, ask us to help you take your dated bath and make it spectacular with classic bathroom remodeling. Alcoa Construction will listen to your needs and desires and help you design a bathroom remodel that will fit your budget. We cover everything from bathroom home additions, full bathroom renovations, and even small bathroom remodeling face lifts.
It’s important to think about the bathroom design as much as about the bathroom fixtures. If you’re thinking of bathroom remodeling, consider adding elements of comfort and elegance. Transform your cold, dreary bath into your own personal sanctuary.
If you have a “sky’s-the-limit” budget, think crystal chandelier, gold plated faucets, marble flooring, and stained-glass windows.
Sophisticated - Soft - Elegant
While many home interiors are going more simple, bathrooms are getting the royal treatment. Elegance, softness, energy efficiency, and sophistication are the keywords for bathroom decor and remodeling.bathroom remodeling
Hand-made Italian tiles, custom-constructed and fitted hand-rubbed wood cabinets, and sparkling crystal light fixtures are just some of the items people are spending top dollar to get when bathroom remodeling.
The bathroom is forgotten no longer. It’s your personal sanctuary, and should be treated with special touches.
In new construction, bathrooms are getting larger. Combined with dressing areas and walk in closets, some bathroom areas are bigger than the adjoining bedrooms. Add to that oversized bathtubs, separate showers, gym equipment, and sauna rooms, a bathroom is becoming a destination place in homes.
In bathroom remodeling, homeowners are tearing down walls, eliminating small bedrooms, and creating giant bathrooms with special amenities such as telephones, televisions, lounging chairs, and a fireplace.
Homes with young children may not be suitable for installation of Italian marble countertops that would be damaged by little fingers and crayons. Usually these top-of-the-line items are reserved for master bath suites. But many luxury elements are appropriate for any home. There are options ranging from family friendly to top of the line elegance when it comes to bathroom remodeling!
Read below or contact Alcoa Construction about the leading choices for luxury and convenient bathrooms. Decide what you could do to really transform your bathroom from a utilitarian stop-off spot to a tranquil, elegant retreat.
* Cabinets Custom cabinetry is designed to provide maximum storage, eye-appeal, and convenience. Tall cabinets on either side of the sink area offers bathroom remodelingeye-level storage for bathroom necessities. Electric plugs installed inside the cabinets help hide ugly appliance cords. Extra-deep drawers offer out-of-site storage for tall bottles. All of these are great carpentry ideas to consider when bathroom remodeling!Even a small bathroom will look larger with mirrored walls or cabinet doors. For a really elegant look, have the mirrors framed in gold- or silver-leaf frames. Both artificial light and natural light will be reflected and the room will be brighter. To add floor space to a narrow room, consider having cabinets cut shallower than usual, and bump out the counter area around the sinks. A pullman-style bathroom will look more interesting without a long, straight line of cabinets.bathroom remodelingIf your space has room, consider having the countertop installed at two heights when bathroom remodeling. The lowered area can serve as a dressing table. You might even have a whole wall of cabinets built in to store towels, rugs, and bathroom necessities.
* Tile While many bathrooms have laminate or solid surface countertops, ceramic tiles of all shapes and styles are the choice of the day. For any variety of looks and durability, choose glass, ceramic, stone, or metal tilesEven in ceramic tiles, there are many painted or embossed styles to choose from. These are especially useful to create a border around an area, a chair rail design, or to frame a mirror or cabinet. You can also scatter hand-painted or embossed tiles at intervals on a wall to create texture and color.
* The Bathroom Sink The elegant bathroom you’re designing will definitely need two sinks. You can place them next to each other on a long bathroom remodelingcountertop set atop a beautiful cabinet. Or block out a place on each side of the room for a single sink. Each person will be able to use their sink without rubbing elbows. Some redesigned bathrooms have the sink in front of a window to take advantage of the natural light. The traditional mirror is found, framed, on another wall. With extra floor space, you might select two elegant pedestal sinks in either traditional or contemporary designs. Using pedestal sinks will make the room more open, but not provide storage space. So be sure to have cabinets handy!Install a drop-in or hand-painted sink into a free-standing cabinet or chest. It will look like a separate piece of furniture. Or drop a custom-designed sink into a marble or solid-surface countertop for an elegant look. The newest look in bathroom sinks shows a large bowl mounted on the top of a bathroom counter. Artists and designers are using all sorts of material, such as marble, hand-blown glass, gold-leafed glass, or shiny metals. Before selecting a sink of this design, be sure that the height will be convenient to use and that the bowl will be safe.
* Lighting By all means, get rid of that yellowed fan- heater-overhead light that’s hanging in the middle of your bathroom. First thing to go when bathroom remodeling!Lighting for a redesigned bathroom (and other rooms, as well) is more directed at work areas. Soft light for a soaking bath can be achieved with a wall dimmer connected to any lighting. Choose some beautiful wall sconces for either side of the mirror, a sparkling chandelier for overhead, or place a small table lamp on the counter or dressing table area when bathroom remodeling.
* Mirrors Get rid of the large wall-size frameless mirror over your sink and replace it with a beautiful framed mirror. Choose frame molding to enhance your space.
* Furniture For a really luxurious feel, bring a piece of furniture into the bathroom. A tall armoire or chest can hold towels and bathroom necessities. A bench or lounge chair provides a spot to relax. Any woman would love a real dressing table in the bath. Any piece of free-standing furniture in a bathroom softens the look and adds a custom touch to the space. Why not consider having a custom hutch built into your new project as well! The options are endless with bathroom remodeling!
